Curated stack contents

The images and copy below reflect the supplements selected for this stack.

Save £7.75 when bought together, 15% off buying separately. Magnesium, L-theanine and vitamin D at the doses used in the research.

Three supplements chosen for what the trials actually tested, at the doses they actually used. We have been deliberate about what we do and do not stack here.

What is in this stack

L-Theanine 200mg

The strongest single trial (Hidese, Nutrients 2019) used 200mg daily for four weeks in a randomised placebo-controlled crossover design, reporting improved sleep-quality scores and reduced stress ratings. Note that two authors were employed by the ingredient supplier, which is disclosed in the paper. A 2020 systematic review of nine trials suggests 200 to 400mg daily may support a calm state of mind under stressful conditions.

Magnesium Bisglycinate

Trials in this area used roughly 300 to 500mg elemental magnesium in the evening over three to eight weeks. The evidence is genuinely modest: a 2021 meta-analysis in older adults rated certainty low. We include it because the bisglycinate form is well tolerated, not because the sleep data is strong.

Vitamin D 1000 IU Daily Oral Spray

The NHS advises everyone in the UK to consider a daily vitamin D supplement in autumn and winter. Vitamin D contributes to normal muscle function and to the normal function of the immune system. Included as the foundation any UK stack should have.

Our position

What we left out, and why: we do not include ashwagandha. It has the largest reported effect sizes in this category, but also documented liver-injury case reports and restrictions from European regulators. We also do not sell melatonin, which is a prescription-only medicine in the UK.

Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied diet or medical care. Speak to your GP or pharmacist before changing what you take, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking prescribed medicines.
